How to Identify a Mineral
After reading the three pages above you have learned about the 6 properties of a mineral. Now I am going to tell how to indentify a mineral using those properties. There are 3 steps.
Step 1: Find the density, cleavage or fracture pattern, streak color, luster, hardness, and color of your mineral.
Step 2: Write all the answers down and compare them to a reference chart or a dichotomous key to find which mineral you have.
Step 3: You will find your mineral and then you are done. It is as simple as that.
