Weekly Announcements:
  • Haunted Hopedale: The Friends of Historic Hopedale are looking for volunteers for the 1st annual Haunted Hopedale! Volunteers needed to build set pieces, set up the event, sell tickets, apply makeup, act in the Maze of Horrors, clean up, and breakdown. Volunteers must be 16 or older, and all Proceeds go to the Little Red Shop and scholarships. Email hauntedhopedale@gmail.com if interested!.
  • FAFSA: Senior Parents are reminded that as of October 1st, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application is available. We advise you to complete this form as soon as possible. For information on how to fill out the FAFSA, see this link.
  • Cancer Awareness Week: The National Honor Society will be sponsoring it's 2nd annual Cancer Awareness Week October 15 - 19. NHS will sell wristbands for $1 during the week corresponding to each cancer color. Please wear the following colors to bring awareness:

    Monday: White for Lung Cancer
    Tuesday: Light Blue for Prostate Cancer
    Wednesday: Orange for Leukemia
    Thursday: Teal for Cervical Cancer
    Friday: Pink for Breast Cancer

  • Art Club Fundraiser: On October 24th from 6-8:30pm there will be a paint night fundraiser for Art Club in the cafeteria. Tickets are $15.00 and will go on sale from October 9th until the 23rd. Tickets will not be sold at the door, and the event is open to anyone. Children 6th grade and younger must be accompanied by a parent.
  • Yankee Candle Fundraiser: Get Free Shipping on your Yankee Candles Online Order of $40 or more today 10/11 through Sunday 10/14. Shop for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas gifts! This fundraiser helps defray the cost of the Jr. HS Great East Festival & Six Flags trip this spring.
  • Coffeehouse: On Thursday, October 25th, the Student Council will be holding our annual Coffeehouse at 7 pm in the multipurpose room! Make sure to bring seven dollars and plenty of friends to cozy up to performances by your classmates and some wonderful desserts. If you'd like to perform at Coffeehouse, stop by the sign up sheet on the auditorium door before Wednesday the seventeenth.
  • Clothing Drive: Student Council will be holding a clothing drive from October 9th through the 26th. We are looking for donations of lightly used clothes in good condition. Boxes for each grade are located by the main office. Please put your donations in a bag with your name on it and leave it in your class’s box. At the end of the month, those who donate the most will win a prize!
  • Tri-M Induction Ceremony: Please join us tonight, October 11th, to welcome the newest members of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. The ceremony will be held in the auditorium at 7pm, and refreshments will be available afterwards.
  • 8th Grade STEM Field Trip: We have an opportunity to take 20 8th grade students to visit Saint-Gobain, an international manufacturing company located in Northboro, MA. Students will tour the facility and meet with employees to learn about STEM career opportunities in manufacturing. Students who are interested must return the permission slip to Mrs. LaBrode by Tuesday October 16th. If more than 20 students are interested in attending students will be selected at random. For more information please contact Mrs. LaBrode or Mrs. Guadagnoli.
  • From the Science Department: The science department is looking for parents and community members who are working in a STEM field and may be able to provide learning opportunities for students. Please complete this very short survey if you are interested.
  • From the School Adjustment Counselor: Click here to learn more about what HHS' new School Adjustment Counselor, Rebecca DeMello, can help you or your child with. In addition, check out the monthly Mental Health Memo! October's issue is highlighting stress management!
  • From Guidance: Parents, visit MEFA.com to learn more about paying for college, including webinars from MEFA at nearby locations.
  • National Business Honor Society: The National Business Honor Society is now accepting applications for new members for the 2018-2019 school year. Students in grades 11 and 12 who have completed at least 3 business courses and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher are encouraged to apply. Eligible courses are listed on Mrs. Ingemi's teacher website along with the online application. Applications are due by Friday Oct. 19, 2018.

  • Unity Day: October is Anti-Bullying Month. Please wear orange on Unity Day, October 24th, to support our students against Bullying.
  • Progress Reports: Parents, as we have reached the midway point of term 1, teachers will be reporting on students progress on the Hopedale Learning Expectations.
  • Hopedale JSHS Focuses on Growth Mindset: We would like to thank Maureen Cohen for her presentation on creating a Growth Mindset in schools at last week's professional development day.
  • Lockdown: This week, Hopedale Jr./Sr. High school participated in its first Lockdown drill of the year. We wan't to thank all the students, faculty, and the Hopedale Police Department for their participation and cooperation. For any questions about the Lockdown, please contact Mr. Atherton.
  • School Photos: Students can now pick up their school photos in the office. If any student would like to re-do their picture, Morins Studios will be returning to take re-takes on October 29th.
  • Reminder: There will be no midterm dismissal schedule during January this year.

    Raider Spotlight


    Hopedale GSA:

    On October 1st, the Hopedale GSA was announced as one of two finalists for the "2018 Best Youth Group Award" by the Boston Pride Parade Committee. On October 16th, Hopedale GSA and their advisors, John Mancone and Marie Urmston, will travel to Boston to attend a ceremony where the winners of 5 different awards (including the Best Youth Group Award), will be announced. Congratulations to Mr. Mancone, Mrs. Urmston, and the GSA on their tremendous accomplishment!
