The story I want to share
In my story, I was the:
Survivor
Witness
Bully
It happened on...
The situation happened on Instagram
Here's what happened
Someone at my school made a "confessions page". People were able to send in anything they thought about the students at school. The messages people sent in were hurtful. Other people sent in personal stuff about other students. The page only stayed up for a few weeks, but a lot of damage was already done. Friendships were broken and students had their feelings hurt. I felt really digusted and disappointed that people were even taking part or sending in messages.
3 things I want you to know
What the creators of the page did was horrible
I wish I had done something to stop it
Witnessing the situation and not doing anything to stop it can really end up hurting someone.
What can you do?
Talk to someone if you are involved in any way, you should really tell someone about the situation. Sometimes you can even report the situation if it's online.
Safe Spaces
Jerry the Giraffe
My space is somewhere I feel comfortable communicating my feelings without the fear of being judged.
In my safe space I can be surrounded by friends or be alone.
In my safe space. I feel safe. I'm guarded from the things that may hurt me in any way.
What I want adults to know
@parents, Talk to your kids about cyberbullying. What it is, how to stay away from it, how to stop it if they do experience it. Be there for your kids and let them know that you will always be there for them.
@teachers, Students may not feel that they can go to their teachers if they are experiencing cyberbullying. It's important to let your students know that they can come to you if they are experiencing cyberbullying.
